Florida Keys, Florida
Florida has got a distinct soul, a tropical magic. I wanted to capture that on film. I spent days driving, hiking and boating through the hundreds of miles of the Florida Keys. Every island, every beach, searching for paradise. And – I know you won’t believe me – it was a challenge. For starters, cyclone winds and rough seas for a solid week put all my plans on hold – I was only able to research the surrounding area. Then the tides – they had to be perfect for this image. I certainly got to know every square inch of the vast and often inaccessible coastline and became very in touch with Mother Nature. But I had to capture that magic. Finally, after two weeks of persistence, the payoff was there. The perfect beach, the perfect day and the high tide mark. You just want to sit under the palm tree and enjoy the moment. I hope you can feel the calm, inner peace I did when I pressed the shutter.
