New Hampsire As I explored New Hampshire, she presented me with the full splendor of fall. I wanted to capture the true essence of this beautiful annual event and it was proving more difficult than I thought to get all the elements I needed, as well as the right light! I hiked through the forest trying to find the perfect composition, and when I came upon this grove of birches with their intricate backdrop of autumn tapestry, I knew I had my perfect image. The overcast conditions were ideal, and the recent rain provided a beautiful diffuse light. I needed to use a really long exposure to saturate the colours and bring out the diverse textures of the image, so to retain the sharpness I knew I had to time my shot carefully. I waited as the almost imperceptible breeze abated, held my breath, then pressed the shutter–perfect!
