Timing is everything in photography — and I knew that, in early spring, the sun would rise in the exact perfect position behind this arch. All I needed was the weather to cooperate. I made several pilgrimages to this spot, only to be met with clear, empty skies — my biggest fear.
On the fifth morning, everything changed. Hiking under flashlight in the predawn silence, I could feel a different energy in the air. I set up the camera at the spot I’d carefully marked before and waited, my heart racing. As the sky began to lighten, I knew the moment was close.
Then, just as the first rays broke the horizon, the arch ignited with a brilliant orange glow — a perfect alignment of light and landscape. I fired off a series of shots, each one more powerful than the last. All the early mornings, all the waiting — it was worth every second.
