The Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP), one of the world’s most prominent organizations in the field, has been honoring their country’s talented, native son for years – even granting him their coveted title of Master Photographer in 2002. Since then, a slew of award wins from the well-respected institution (six this year alone) has continued to mark Peter’s impressive, 30-year career in landscape photography. Recently, the AIPP announced the winners of its 2015 Canon-sponsored Australian Professional Photography Awards (APPA), an elite list including Peter, who took home a Silver with Distinction honor for his stunning vision, Autumn Mist.
Considered to be one of Australia’s most important professional photography events, the APPA competition is open to photographers of varying styles and backgrounds, and “seeks to reward current Australian image making,” according to its official website. Professional photographers from Australia and all over the world compete in a number of different categories. Proudly bestowed upon shooters of overwhelming talent, the Silver with Distinction honor signifies images that are “Superior in Imagination, Craft and Skill.” Autumn Mist, Peter’s beautiful depiction of fall in the woods of Deer Valley, Utah, is a breathtaking collection of colorful foliage amidst a family of white birch trees. Shown above, viewers can easily see why the image has received such an impressive accolade.
“I just keep doing what I love, day after day,” Peter commented. “When I received word of this recognition from such an amazing organization, it was an indescribable feeling. I am humbled and inspired by my talented and gracious peers. The fact that AIPP is located in my home country just makes it that much more special.” With five AIPP award wins already under his belt this year – four Silver Awards from AIPP Queensland and an AIPP Licentiate Award – this latest honor just further proves Peter’s ability to keep pushing the boundaries of fine art photography through his groundbreaking body of work
Congratulations, Peter!
