Peter Lik's Masterwork Enchantment Raises Over 10K for Two-Year-Old, Riley Schlei
Recently moved by the story of a Las Vegas toddler in desperate need of a kidney transplant, Peter Lik wasted no time in partnering with The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) – a national charity dedicated to raising funds for transplant-related expenses – offering prized image, Enchantment, as an artistic vehicle to give Riley a healthier life. The Limited Edition, 200cm Masterwork, depicting a stunningly beautiful Japanese maple tree, pulled in an astounding $10,500 at auction – which now puts the Schlei family inches away from their total goal of 75K.
Charity through Art is a mantra Peter has become known for, especially when it comes to children: “Riley’s story really got to me,” says the Artist. “He is just one of so many young kids across the globe that need a little extra love and support to get through. Sharing the unending beauty of Mother Nature is all I ever wanted to do – and using that drive to help my mate, Riley, is a rewarding and touching experience I will never forget.” Born in 2015, Riley was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease, and is in need of a lifesaving kidney transplant, as recommended by the doctors at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford in Palo Alto, California.
All proceeds from Riley’s ongoing fundraiser will go directly to COTA for any expenses related to the upcoming transplant. Of course, as a result of this recent, huge boost in donation money, the young boy’s parents are feeling more optimistic than ever: "We honestly could not have gotten to this stage without Peter’s help,” says Krissy Schlei. “This one donation item covered the majority of transplant, housing and travel costs. A huge thanks to Peter and everyone at LIK USA for their time and generosity!”
