Peter Lik Donates Equation of Time to La Jolla Charity Event

Updated

Peter’s Southern California gallery, LIK LA JOLLA, was recently honored to lend a hand at this year’s 15th annual Taste at the Covefundraiser for the San Diego Sports Medicine Foundation (SDSMF), a well-regarded local cause aimed at helping young, injured athletes return to “health, sports and life.” As a result of the Artist’s generous donation of two Open Editions of his award-winning book, Equation of Time, the SDSMF was able to raise more than $4,000 during the event.

On Thursday, August 25th, at Scripps Park at La Jolla Cove, hundreds of guests from both the fields of professional medicine and sports gathered together at the five-star gala, which featured food from San Diego's top-rated restaurants, and a New York-style runway fashion show. During the night’s silent auction, Peter’s Equation of Time (which boasts 528-pages that span his photography career to date) was ultimately purchased by an anonymous, yet longtime fan of the Artist: “It was incredible to have such an intense bidding war over Equation of Time,” says LIK LA JOLLA Galley Director and attendee, Kerry Bohanon. “Even more satisfying was being part of such a worthwhile cause.”

Peter himself could not be more thrilled to work with the SDSMF, which is responsible for over 5,000 student athletes receiving free medical treatment since 2002: “I consider myself a part of every community in which I have a gallery,” says the Master Photographer. “I truly appreciate this opportunity from the SDSMF to get involved and help young athletes get back on their feet.”
