With over 20,000 image entries received from photographers in 47 countries, with their finest moments in the field competed in this prestigious journey from the wild to the walls of the Smithsonian.
Making the decisions on the category Winners and Highly Honored selections took Nature’s Best Photography months of time into the review process to make sure the choices are the ones that will engage, educate and inspire the millions of visitors to the Smithsonian National Museum of History.
What these images reveal is an unyielding commitment to nature along with the talent to deliver a vivid record of wildlife and wild places that will impact the public for generations to come.
Peter Lik’s Limited Edition photograph, Inner Peace was awarded the winner of the Plant Life category and will be available for public viewing at the Smithsonian during the upcoming exhibit Spring of 2012.
