These dappled guardians of the Dandenong Ranges stand as if in battle formation, an eerie army of soldiers marching out of this misty forest. The muted colours of the eucalypts give this image an almost monochromatic feel, and conveys the mood of imminence and expectancy I felt as I peered beyond the shroud of mist. The sound of the bellbirds song rang in my ears, and the pure mountain air filled my lungs.
