Photography is all about a mood, a feeling. Pushing all boundaries of capturing images is what I strive for. It was a magical morning in the forest and I wanted something really special. I took a series of images at this location and liked what I saw. The composition and alignment of this scene really screamed something different. I changed the shutter speed and F-stop to a very slow half second, and deliberately blurred the scene with a vertical movement. I was blown away. The white trunks of the aspens looked like a brushstroke on a canvas, and the red leaves and brush enhanced the contrast of the image. This is a very special photograph to me – as soon as I saw it I knew it was a one in a million shot.
