Spread the word about Epic Skies

Las Vegas, Nevada
I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would be able to produce such a dynamic print out of a MOTION PICTURE CAMERA! Part of being an artist is constantly embracing new technology - especially in the field of photography. This image really started out as an experimental image and the end result blew my mind. Red Digital Camera has been blazing the trail in motion picture cameras and now all major movies are shot on it, so it was my obvious choice. I needed an incredibly high resolution and dynamic range to even consider to have an image enlarged to this size, with the depth, color and clarity I refuse to compromise on. I knew the shot had to be big and I researched my Neon backyard of Vegas to find this vantage point from the recently built Cosmopolitan.

The view was stunning and the pressure was on. I wanted to push everything to the limit, my gear, myself, and every pixel in the RED Epic camera. Adding to this I only had one chance to shoot... sorry ROLL! The symphony of golden twilight and Bellagio fountain show... all at twilight. Without the water show the shot was nothing. A radiant sunset gathered on the horizon, the fountain came on, the light was perfect... time to roll. Firing up the RED Epic camera was new and just as exciting as taking my first photograph. I didn’t really know what to expect. I did a slow pan across the entire scene and selected 12 stills for this image. Seeing the image on my screen blew my mind. THIS IS HISTORY. The world’s very first image of this caliber - all captured by a movie camera. This image has not only changed the way I look at the world, it has changed my life as a still photographer, opening another world I never knew existed, (thanks to Jim, the inventor of the RED camera.) I was stunned, the future is here, the blend of video and stills. History has been created. Amazing.
