Northern Territory, Australia The glowing domes of Kata Tjuta is a sight which will stay with me forever. These incredible sentry-like monoliths rise straight out of the unforgiving desert floor. Their mystery and magic are reflected in the spiritual stories of the tribal Aborigine. In this loneliest of places where the earth meets the sky, I travelled through the “Valley of the Winds”, a corridor through the formations. After five days in the grip of the desert, I was finally rewarded with this shot. The day’s last rays parted the landscape, and washed the vista with an aura of blood red light. My time at Kata Tjuta reminded me that we are indeed intruders in this vast land, and the true owner is the untamed heart of Mother Nature.
