A Decade of Honors from Top Institution Marks Epic Career in Landscape Photography
Back in 2006, Professional Photographers of America (PPA) – one of the industry’s most prominent and longest-running organizations – first welcomed a successfully emerging Peter Lik into its illustrious group of talented members. Since that time, a steady parade of distinctions from PPA has both confirmed the Artist’s prowess as a photographer, and influenced his status as a leader in the world of fine art photography.
Peter Lik PPA Awards
In just ten years, PPA has honored Peter with an impressive collection of over 40 awards and honors – spotlighting many of his acclaimed images, such as Pele’s Whisper, Allure, Crimson Tides, Tree of the Universe, and Inner Peace (a vision which also remains a part of the Smithsonian’s permanent collection). In the last few months alone, PPA has honored Peter with the Diamond Photographer of the Year Award and the Imaging Excellence Award, both of which are selectively bestowed upon only the most skilled and dedicated of photographers.
However, there are two significant moments from Peter’s history with PPA that truly stand out. The first came in 2010, when the Artist was given coveted degree of Master of Photography (M.Photog.) from PPA, placing him in a category shared by many legendary craftsmen. The second, and even more prestigious event occurred in 2015, when Peter was honored with PPA’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Incredibly, Peter is only the 13th photographer in PPA history to receive this meaningful recognition.
What is the PPA?
Established in 1869, PPA has become the world's largest non-profit photography association, with more than 29,000 members in over 50 countries. Its continued celebration of Peter’s portfolio is a notion the Artist does not ponder lightly: “PPA is a permanent staple in the world of professional photography, and its mission to encourage the art form is unmatched,” remarks Peter. “Just to be a member gives me great pride. I am eternally grateful for their recognition of my life’s passion.”
Here’s to the next 10 years!
