Peter Lik’s Fascination Receives ‘Silver’ from AIPP Queensland

Updated

The Artist’s Unique Vision of a Sunlit Belgian Forest Earns Fifth Award

The Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) – based in Peter’s beloved home country – has been praising the Artist’s work since well before granting him the title of Master Photographer in 2002, and considering this latest news, it seems AIPP’s admiration for his images has not dimmed. During the 2016 AIPP Queensland EPSON Professional Photography Awards, Peter’s breathtaking shot of a colorful Belgian forest during sunrise, entitled Fascination, garnered a prestigious Silver Award for “excellence” in the category of Landscapes.

With four previous awards under its, belt (two from PPA and one each from the North American Nature Photography Association and EPSON), Peter could not be prouder of this image – which has now gained the attention of an institution located in the very same region that sparked his imagination from day one: “Anytime the AIPP recognizes my work, there is an extra sense of emotion and excitement attached to it,” states the Artist. “Capturing Fascination was a true magical moment for me – and while nothing compares to the feeling of getting a good one in the ‘tin,’ this award certainly comes close! I am both humbled and grateful to the institution for their continued support of my work.”

Released just last year to an exceptional response from collectors around the world, Fascination perfectly captures the magic of the continent’s breathtaking scenery. “The legendary forests of Europe are as full of wonder and mystery as the storybooks say,” Peter notes. Upon capturing this colourful photograph, the Artist found himself “literally in the middle of a vivid wonderland,” unlike anything he had ever seen before. “As soon as the morning fog lifted,” Peter adds, “this vision of Mother Nature completely awoke my soul. I’ll never forget this magical spring morning in Belgium.”

Congratulations, Pete!
