The world’s leading organization in professional photography has chosen Peter Lik as the 13th photographer in history to be given its highest possible honor. Professional Photographers of America (PPA) recently hosted Imaging USA 2015 at Nashville’s Gaylord Opryland, where they presented the Master Photographer with their coveted Lifetime Achievement Award – officially making Peter the only landscape photographer and youngest photographer ever to receive this accolade.
PPA’s annual Imaging USA is the longest running national photographic convention in the United States, dating back to 1880. During the Award & Degree ceremony, PPA members are offered distinctions for their contributions in the field of professional photography. Although not given annually, the Lifetime Achievement Award made a special appearance this year to mark the career of a man whose amazing collection of work spans decades: “Receiving PPA’s Lifetime Achievement Award could not mean more,” said Lik. “I have worked every single day for over thirty years because I love what I do. I am truly overwhelmed and grateful.”
Peter, who also held a grand exhibit at this year’s Imaging USA, has been a PPA member for 10 years and earned his master of photography (M. Photog.) degree from the organization in 2010. PPA president Susan Michal had nothing but praise for the acclaimed landscape photographer: “Peter’s accomplishments in photography speak for themselves. He is a passionate PPA photographer and we are proud to honor him with this award.”
It has truly been an incredible couple of months for Peter who, at the end of 2014, broke all previous world records by selling the most expensive photograph in history, Phantom, for $6.5 million. Now, it seems after a “lifetime” of hard work and an exceptional portfolio to show for it, Peter is just getting started.
