It’s that time of year again! As the holiday season rolls in, so does the generosity of spirit that seems to come with it.
While many are fortunate to heartily feast at the family dinner table, others are facing the bleak challenge of making ends meet and providing sustenance for themselves. Enter Three Square, Southern Nevada’s only food bank, responsible for helping thousands of state residents stay healthy and nourished. Just two days ago, this wonderful organization watched as LIK USA’s company trucks happily delivered $5000 worth of fresh turkeys to their Las Vegas headquarters – certain to be enjoyed by many in need throughout the upcoming weeks.
On Monday, December 14, Peter’s enthusiastic team of do-gooders joined the staff at Three Square to help unload many hefty pallets of 12-pound birds and stock them at the organization’s massive, 100,000 sq. ft. storage space. The fresh – not frozen – turkeys, which can feed families of 4-6, were picked up from superstore Costco, and delivered the same day. This is fast becoming an annual tradition of Peter’s, being the second year in a row he has donated to Three Square: “Last year’s efforts just made us all feel really good – knowing we were helping families in need while giving back to the local community,” Peter remarked. “When it came to giving it a go this year, there was no question.”
Throughout the holidays, the philanthropic food bank, which helps serve more than 137,000 individuals each month, will be relied upon to supply provisions to a collection of 600 food partners in the nearby region, including charities, organizations, churches, schools, community centers, and senior centers. Last year, with the help of Peter Lik, Three Square was able to distribute over 16,000 turkeys. This year, that number is expected to climb significantly, and once again bring a little extra cheer to the beautiful state of Nevada.
Good onya, Pete!
