Peter Lik Gallery in Noosa, Australia Closes

Updated
Fifteen years ago, Peter Lik kick-started his career in his home country of Australia with 4 galleries in Cairns, Port Douglas, Noosa Heads, and Sydney.

After a series of strategic moves, the sole remaining Peter Lik gallery in Australia was located in Noosa Heads. For the past ten years, the LIK NOOSA has helped Peter Lik maintain an established presence in Australia.

It is with great regret that the decision has been made to close down LIK NOOSA Gallery. Peter Lik has released an official statement as follows:

"People say in business, don’t make decisions with your heart -- this would be impossible given the many years and deep personal connections that I have developed with our Australian collectors over the past fifteen years. While this decision was thoroughly analyzed and ultimately necessary, it does not make the decision to close the gallery any less difficult or heart-wrenching. It was an extremely emotional decision to close the LIK NOOSA Gallery doors."

While the closing of the Noosa Heads gallery leaves no other brick and mortar galleries in Australia, Peter Lik has reassured his collectors that he has no intentions of "abandoning" his home country or his Australian collectors. First, Simone Abbott, who was the Assistant Gallery Director in the Noosa Heads gallery, will be taking care of existing collectors in Australia. Second, plans are already underway to scout other locations in Australia, as Peter Lik intends to have a physical presence in Australia at some point down the road.

All in all, Peter Lik refuses to say "good-bye" to Australia or his Australian collectors - he is saying, "I will see you later."
