Crescent City, California I spent days shooting this gorgeous old lighthouse from every possible aspect, but it was this image captured just before dawn that evokes the true feeling and atmosphere of the location. It was pitch black when I set up, but I knew that with a very long exposure, the glow from the lighthouse would illuminate and balance the scene. The milky texture of the crashing waves creates a surreal foreground, and with the lighthouse as the focal point, the eye is immediately drawn to the heart of the shot. This location holds a special memory for me, and I was delighted to receive a silver award for the image.
